I live in the in-between. Eternal promises, unfolding and lived out in the temporal plane. A King and His Kingdom, now and not yet. Death defeated, but still to be endured. A new life that has started but is still being transformed.

There is tension in this place. Sometimes it is unbearable. Threatening to fracture my sense of reality and self. How can You be good when I see suffering around me? How can You be at work when everything seems to have stalled? How can I be a new creation when my heart is still filled with so much darkness? How can You love me when I feel always at fault?

You are the God of eternal light who steps down into darkness. You are the God who knows what is ultimate Good. You are the God who bridges the chasm. You are the God who redeems and restores. If You are slow, it is because You are patient. If You allow evil it is because You will turn it to good. If I am feeling swallowed up in my darkness, and my pain and failure feel too large; I need only lift up my eyes. Then I will see that You are the I Am, and I am becoming.
